Sound Lab Polar ETC (PET) Software for Windows

Find the direction of reflecting surfaces relative to the microphone
If you need to quickly locate the direction and intensity of reflections in an acoustic environment, just use Polar ETC (PET) software with your TEF analyzer. Sound Lab Polar ETC (PET) software generates polar coordinate plots from ETC (Energy Time Curve) data. The result for the contractor and consultant is accurate and rapid distance and direction information regarding problem reflections.

The Sound Lab Polar ETC (PET) program not only measures the magnitude and time of arrival of reflections, but also reports the direction of the reflecting surface relative to the microphone placement. The software is supplied with a Mic Stand and Positioning Arm.

A total ETC (PET) setup is available as the SLPETKIT which includes the PET software, the Mic Stand and Positioning Arm, a Cardioid Mic, an Alignmnet Laser and a Hard Side Carry Case.

Time-saving accuracy
Sound Lab Polar ETC makes six ETC measurements with a cardioid microphone. These measurements are made while the microphone is sequentially pointed in the six axis of directions of a three-dimensional rectangular coordinate system. The Polar ETC data is calculated from these six measurements and the directional properties of the cardioid microphone. As the cursor is moved in time, the azimuth, elevation, SPL and distance are reported for that time of arrival.

Measurements/Displays

Polar ETC (PET)

  • Extracts directional information about reflections from a series of six ETCs measured with a cardioid microphone.
  • Displays a three dimensional representation of the reflections.
  • Provides a movable dB threshold line to allow exclusion of the lower level reflections from three dimensional display.
  • Calculates and reports the lateral fraction (LF) of the sound energy.
  • Data cursor reports SPL, distance, azimuth and elevations of the reflections.

Energy Time Curves (ETC)

  • Selectable frequency range and sweep time.
  • Selectable number of data sample points (512, 1024, 2048, 4096, 8192)
  • Selectable measurement windows (Blackman, Hamming, Hanning, Kaiser, Rectangular)
  • Selectable scaling parameters as fine as one dB per division or auto scale

RT60 & Speech Intelligibility-% ALCONS

  • Calculated from ETC data
  • Calculated direct/reverberant ratio
  • Displays Schroeder Integration Curve
